A Letter from the Director

Howard H. Weitz, MD, FACP, FACC

Dear Friend,

The human heart is a remarkable organ—an elaborate arrangement of chambers, valves and blood vessels that all work together in synchrony. The same can be said of the multidisciplinary team that comprises the Division of Cardiology at Jefferson.

Named a high-performing hospital in cardiology by U.S. News & World Report and a Top Hospital for Heart by Philadelphia magazine, Jefferson has one of the best programs in the country. We have the most advanced technologies, the best nurses and a high volume of patients who have some of the most complex and malignant cases of vascular disease. These patients are often referred to us or transferred from other hospitals in the region because we have specialists who are trained to treat every part of the heart.

Built on a foundation of innovation and propelled by philanthropy, cardiology and cardiovascular care at Jefferson has been a program on the move – a key component of a university and health system on the rise. Our impact on human health has been lifechanging, and it’s expanding.

We have eminent faculty, engaged students, brilliant alumni and an unparalleled track record of innovation. We are on the cusp of something special here, and with your help we will be able to take major leaps forward for caring for the heart.

Generosity fuels every part of Jefferson. It launches novel research, cultivates brilliance, opens educational opportunities and transforms the healing process. By supporting cardiology at Jefferson, your generosity heals hearts.

We invite you to learn why your support matters so much and how you can help us reimagine cardiac health care, education and discovery. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Howard H. Weitz, MD, FACP, FACC
