2016 Award Recipients

The Jefferson College of Biomedical Sciences held its Alumni Day on Friday, April 8, 2016. The main feature of Alumni Day included the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Honorable Lifetime Membership Award. Dr. Leonard Eisenman, PhD, Professor, Pathology, Anatomy and Cell Biology, received the Honorable Lifetime Membership Award. The Distinguished Alumni Award was established in 1983 to recognize the outstanding professional achievements of Jefferson College of Biomedical Sciences alumni and to foster communication between current and former graduate students. The 2016 awardee was Michael Hsieh, MD, PhD '01.
Dr. Hsieh is a urologist at Children’s National Health System, specializing in bladder diseases affecting children and young adults. He presented a well-attended talk titled, "The Importance of Scientific Serendipity (Including Therapeutic Exploitation of a Parasite-Derived Host Modulatory Protein for Organ-Specific Disease)." His presentation was followed by a lively Alumni Networking Reception.
