Support the Department of Surgery

In 1824, surgeon George McClellan, MD founded Jefferson Medical College, the precursor to our Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Embarking on a noble mission to address the critical need for high-quality medical education, we opened a clinic to provide care for the underserved, effectively laying the foundation as one of the nation's first teaching hospitals. Since then, our Department of Surgery has continued to raise the bar of innovation and excellence.

Join us in celebrating Jefferson’s Bicentennial by supporting our philanthropic priority, the Department of Surgery Pilot Grant Program. This initiative was developed to fund independent research of surgical faculty, residents, and fellows at Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health. These grants are vital to the growth of our Department and we are reliant on philanthropy to see them continue. Gifts to the Pilot Grant Program should be directed to the General Surgery Research and Education fund.
