Investiture of Christine M. Eischen, PhD
Dr. Christine Eischen has been named the first Herbert A. Rosenthal, MD ’56 Professor of Cancer Research.
In her remarks, Dr. Eischen described the difficult path a scientist takes when choosing the profession, especially when that scientist is a woman. We’re fortunate she made that choice. She’s been a true pioneer—blazing new paths to understand cancer and shattering the glass ceiling in the field of science along the way. Dr. Eischen is brilliant, dedicated, and a role model for the next generation of women scientists who will stand on her shoulders. We are so lucky to call her one of our own.
It is fitting that Dr. Eischen’s professorship is funded through the generosity of the estate of Jeffersonian Dr. Herbert A. Rosenthal (class of 1956), as both serve as examples of extraordinary commitment to medicine and humanity.
