1,000 Hats for Preemies
Local employees at Cigna, a health insurance provider, flooded Jefferson’s neonatal intensive care unit with over 1,000 preemie-sized, homemade hats. About 1 in 10 infants in the United States is born prematurely, making it a pressing issue for healthcare providers. Warmth is one of the most important factors in the health of premature infants, as they are often unable to regulate their own body temperature.
Part of the March of Dimes’ Day of Gratitude, this gift was a display of appreciation for caregivers and a part of the effort by the community to make their jobs just a little bit easier.
