Are you already in nursing school or just thinking about a nursing career? Do you want to earn an advanced nursing degree? Jefferson has a variety of programs to prepare students for a career in nursing or to earn advanced degrees. Nursing students and RNs can conveniently earn BSNs and advanced degrees on-site and online through the Jefferson School of Nursing.
Jefferson also partners with area academic institutions to offer clinical experiences for nursing students. In cooperation with the Department of Nursing, Jefferson's unit-based nurses mentor nearly 1,000 undergraduate and graduate nursing students who rotate through the Hospitals' clinical sites each year.
All student nurses must complete our online orientation called Short Term Clinician Placement orientation before starting at Jefferson.
Nursing students who have successfully completed one semester of a medical/surgical clinical rotation may be eligible to participate in Jefferson’s Nurse Extern Program. As a Nurse Extern, you will work with Jefferson’s professional nursing staff and benefit from their clinical expertise and direct supervision. Externship opportunities exist in critical care/telemetry, medical/surgical and women and children specialties. Learn more about how you can become a Nurse Extern at Jefferson.
