Jefferson Appoints Sang Hoon Woo, M.D., as Division Director of Hospital Medicine

PHILADELPHIA – Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University announced the appointment of Sang Hoon (Jonathan) Woo, M.D., as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and Division Director of Hospital Medicine.

Dr. Woo joins Jefferson most recently from Stanford University School of Medicine where he served as Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinic Chief of the Hospitalist Consult Clinic at Stanford Hospital.

“Dr. Woo’s commitment to medical innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration is a great fit for Jefferson’s mission,” said Gregory Kane, M.D., Interim Chairman of the Department of Medicine in the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. “His quality improvement experience, dedication to his patients, and leadership will be great assets for our organization.”

Dr. Woo received his medical degree from the Kyungpook National University School of Medicine in South Korea. He completed an internal medicine internship at Albany Medical College, an internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center, a clinical fellowship in nephrology at Stanford University Medical Center and a postdoctoral research fellowship in clinical/translational research at Stanford University.

Dr. Woo has been the recipient of research awards including funding to conduct a pilot study on sepsis and medical device development from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He has authored publications based on his multidisciplinary research and holds multiple patent applications in medical technologies. Dr. Woo’s primary research interests include clinical/translation research, medical technology development and internet technology.
