In Memoriam: Edith Robb Dixon, Longtime Abington and Jefferson Benefactor & Trustee

It is with profound sadness that Jefferson announces the passing of beloved friend and longtime champion of Jefferson and Abington, Edith Robb Dixon, on May 18, at the age of 91.

A tireless advocate for nursing, Edie and her husband endowed the Abington nursing school, setting a national standard for nursing education. Her support helped the program achieve Magnet recognition for nursing excellence. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Thomas Jefferson University in 2016. Edie’s legacy continued with the establishment of the Dixon Campus for the Jefferson College of Nursing in 2020, a state-of-the-art facility ensuring the future of healthcare education.

Edie’s impact on our community is immeasurable. Her legacy of kindness, wisdom and community spirit will forever inspire us.

A memorial service will be held in September.
