Rehabilitation Medicine Celebrates 50 Years of Excellence
Rehabilitation has always been an important part of patient care at Jefferson. From early therapeutic exercises and electrotherapy to cutting-edge comprehensive rehabilitative treatment and research, Jefferson has grown to match the needs of the people we serve. On October 24, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine celebrates 50 years of providing quality care and life-changing treatment to our patients, helping them and their families to be healthy and happy again.
The anniversary will also commemorate the career and contributions of John F. Ditunno, Jr., MD, the first Michie Professor and Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, celebrating his nearly 30 years at Jefferson. Dr. Ditunno is recognized as an accomplished researcher and an industry leader in the field of spinal cord injury care.
Recently, an alumnus has offered a matching gift opportunity of up to $25,000 in Dr. Ditunno’s name. The alumnus, who wishes to remain anonymous, hopes to encourage others to celebrate the department’s 50th anniversary through gifts and other support.
If you would like to make a gift to support the John F. Ditunno, Jr., MD, Rehabilitation Medicine Endowed Research Fund, please contact Michelle Maslowski at 215-955-0591 or michelle.maslowski@jefferson.edu.
