Employee Giving FAQs

As a non-profit institution, Jefferson relies on private philanthropy to support patient care, academic enrichment, and advanced research. Giving is an opportunity to invest in the resources that make your work possible!

The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) advances the life-changing mission of Jefferson by optimizing philanthropic support, engaging alumni, patients, and the community; and positioning Jefferson as an entrepreneurial, forward-thinking, and dynamic academic medical center.

As an employee of Jefferson, you have the unique opportunity to give back directly to the place where you work and help enact the changes you want to see on campus. Jefferson is a non-profit institution that relies increasingly on private support. We ask for contributions from alumni, friends, patients, faculty, staff, corporations, and foundations to keep a Jefferson affordable and to expand our research and clinical care.

Together, your gifts help provide competitive financial aid opportunities for deserving students, enhanced resources for research, and support for exceptional clinical care.

Yes! You should designate your gift to an area across the Jefferson campuses that is meaningful to you. If you need a recommendation, we are encouraging employees to designate their gift to the newly created Better Together Fund. The fund offers support to employees seeking assistance from unexpected hardships, as well as provide opportunities to enhance their well-being.

Your gift has an immediate impact on the stability and growth of Jefferson. As an employee donor, you will receive special recognition by senior leadership and will receive the same courtesies as other Jefferson donors.

Any amount that feels comfortable for you. Every gift represents a meaningful step towards our goal of increasing faculty and staff participation.

If your spouse works for a matching gift company, your gift may be doubled or even tripled. Please contact the Human Resources office for your spouse’s company’s matching gift form. Then, just complete the form and enclose it when returning your contribution to Jefferson.

Payroll deduction is one of the most convenient ways to make your gift. By signing up for payroll deduction, you can choose the amount to have automatically deducted from your paycheck. Your gift can be split over multiple pay periods, making it very easy to give incrementally over time. Jefferson is currently transitioning its system for payroll giving. The new system is expected to launch on Friday, December 20. For a reminder to make your payroll gift when the new system is live, please sign up here.

No, payroll deduction gifts and pledges are deducted after-tax according to federal law. You can claim the tax deduction when you file your taxes annually.
