Dr. Leonard G. Gomella
Leonard G. Gomella, MD, is the Bernard W. Godwin, Jr. Professor of Prostate Cancer and Chairman of the Department of Urology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and Senior Director for Clinical Affairs for the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson.
Renowned for his groundbreaking translational clinical research, Dr. Gomella has played a key role in developing new diagnostic techniques and treatments for prostate and bladder cancer and has been a key contributor to our NCI-Designated Cancer Center since its founding. He was an early contributor to urologic laparoscopy, initiating Jefferson’s program in 1990. A prolific lecturer and author of 63 editions of 17 different medical books, he has been acknowledged in local and national “Top Doctor” listings for many years. He has held many national leadership positions, including serving as President of the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Urological Association, and is currently President of the Society of Urologic Oncology.
