Dr. Bernard Segal

Bernard Segal, MD, Director Emeritus of Cardiology, was an exceptional physician, teacher, and entrepreneur. He guided the Jefferson Heart Institute to a world-class, leading edge stature.

Bernie’s colleagues, residents, and students admired him tremendously for his wisdom, guidance, and encouragement. He always enjoyed the immeasurable affection and gratitude of his patients, not only for his excellent and devoted care, but also for helping them to gain the confidence and courage necessary for better health. In doing so, he consistently touched so many hearts and raised the quality of heart care in the region.

Bernie passed away on February 10, 2021.
