Catriona McDonald Harrop, MD, FACP, SFHM

Dr. Harrop is the associate chief physician executive for Jefferson Health, and the senior vice president for Jefferson Medical Group. In this role, she led the clinical strategy and execution for the opening of the Honickman Center, a state-of-the-art, 19-story ambulatory care building in Center City, Philadelphia, bringing in the $762 million project on time and under budget despite the challenges of the pandemic. Dr. Harrop also serves as the co-chair for Jefferson Physician and Advanced Practice Clinician Wellbeing (JPAW) and was instrumental in Jefferson Health achieving the Silver status award from the AMA Joy in Medicineā„¢ Health System Recognition Program for 2024.

Dr. Harrop, a seasoned hospitalist, joined Jefferson in 2015 as the division director of hospital medicine for the Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience. Her expertise in perioperative care, particularly in optimizing surgical patient outcomes, has been instrumental in guiding patients from perioperative care through post-surgical recovery and discharge.

Dr. Harrop is a 1992 graduate of Smith College with a BS in psychology and neuroscience. She continued her academic journey at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, graduating with honors in 1998. She completed her residency and served as chief resident in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut. She currently serves as clinical associate professor at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Senior Fellow for the Society of Hospital Medicine.

She lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband Dan, her two sons Gordon and Cameron, and her mother June.
