Honoring William M. Keane, MD

On June 30, our good friend Dr. William Keane, the Herbert Kean, MD Professor and Chair, is retiring as head of Jefferson’s Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery after three decades of leadership and service.

During his tenure, Dr. Keane raised the profile of the department to its current place among the top programs nationally and internationally. He grew the faculty from four members to 30, developed six centers of excellence, expanded clinical sites to seven locations across the region, enlarged the department’s research portfolio with landmark publications and clinical trials, and enhanced its reputation for training residents and fellows.
