Digestive Health Institute
A Leader in Patient-Centered GI Care
Jefferson has one of the leading Divisions of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the country, home to internationally renowned faculty who continue to push forward all aspects of clinical care and research. From performing the first liver transplant in the region in 1984 to pioneering radiofrequency ablation and photodynamic therapy—which prevent, treat, and cure cancers before they ever take hold—our team raises the standard of care every day.
In this moment of unprecedented transformation at Jefferson, it is one of our top priorities to expand the breadth, scope, and impact of our renowned GI program across our rapidly expanding enterprise. Such is the driving force behind the Digestive Health Institute.
Led by Chief of GI, David Kastenberg, MD, and founding executive director emeritus, Anthony J. DiMarino, Jr., MD, the Digestive Health Institute focuses on advancing all aspects of research, innovation, and education in the GI field. Our team is poised to pioneer new programmatic initiatives and lead novel research efforts that will redefine the standards of GI care in our region and far beyond.
