Mission and History
The Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Women’s Board was founded to provide for the comfort and care of Jefferson patients and to further the mission of the hospital in the surrounding community. Through its fundraising and volunteer activities, the Board contributes on an ongoing basis to worthwhile causes.
Over the last century, the Women’s Board has been actively involved at the hospital. We have raised millions of dollars to fund diverse projects through our fundraising and volunteer activities.
A group known as the Board of Lady Managers was active within the Jefferson Medical College from 1892-1897. By 1907, the group had become the Women’s Auxiliary and, in 1925, the name was officially changed to the Women’s Board. We celebrated our Centennial Anniversary in 2007.
