Programs We Support
The Women’s Board is proud to support programs that help patients and their families with an array of services, including screenings, medical equipment, education, and financial assistance in the Philadelphia area and Jefferson community.
JeffHOPE
This is a student-run free clinic with over 800 medical student volunteers, overseen by attending physicians at JUP. JeffHOPE provides free acute medical care and social services to more than 2,500 under-served men, women and children annually. The Women's Board grant is used to purchase supplies to address the medical and social service needs of homeless residents at three shelter clinics devoted exclusively to women and children.
Women’s Board of TJUH Scholarship Fund
The Women’s Board of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to students from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College who qualify for financial aid, with preference for female students who have demonstrated merit and a future interest in internal medicine, family medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics, or Women’s Health.
Geriatrics and Palliative Care
No One Dies Alone (NODA) is a national volunteer organization started in 2001 by a nurse in Oregon who wanted to ensure that patients would not be alone during their last days or hours of life. Jefferson is building a team of student volunteers to serve as compassionate companions for our patients. The Women's Board grant supports the acquisition of technology to help ensure patients receive care in a time efficient manner, the development of educational and training materials for volunteers, and the purchase of books and music
PINK PLUS
PINK PLUS is the Women’s Bundled Cancer Screenings Program which offers the opportunity to have 2 or 3 screenings in one visit. Funds will are used for an annual seminar, promotion/marketing of program, and offering patients monetary support for parking and co-pays if they have any financial barriers
Cribs for Kids
MCC's Cribs for Kids program provides safe sleep education and cribs to families in the Greater Philadelphia region. Education, along with providing cribs to mothers who can’t afford one, is key to reducing infant mortality rates. In addition to a crib, this funding will allow each family to receive a crib sheet, Halo Sleep Sack, and information on topics such as smoking cessation, breastfeeding, and infant safety.
