Surgery Changes a Life

The patient was in her mid-50s, seeking treatment for a large ameloblastoma that had been progressive for more than a decade. Due to her change in appearance, she had been ostracized by her community, which impacted her social functioning and mental health. She came to our team at Kijabe Hospital to resect the destructive tumor and reconstruct her mandibular bone using a fibula-free flap in order to restore function and cosmesis and return to her life.
