Jefferson Moss-Magee Trustee Carries on Legacy of Care

Every year, more than 2,000 patients pass through the doors of Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s Outpatient Care Center in Center City for medical appointments. Thanks to an unrestricted gift from hospital trustee Andrew M. Kronfeld, those patients will be met with a new and improved center that blends advanced clinical technologies with modern aesthetics for an improved experience.
Kronfeld’s $250,000 gift allows the Hospital to allocate the funds to its highest priority, which will help to complete a project to renovate and modernize the first-floor outpatient center at the facility on Race Street.
The renovation includes eight new exam rooms; overhead lifts; state-of-the-art vital sign systems; a dedicated space for the nursing team to coordinate and deliver personalized care; an outpatient case manager office; office spaces for attending physicians and consulting doctors to meet with patients privately; an in-house pharmacy and medical supply center; office space for admissions team to prepare newly injured patients for transfer to the hospital; spaces for telehealth and family meetings; and a vibrant registration area.
The Kronfeld family has been involved with the hospital for more than four decades, since Harvey Kronfeld, Andy’s father, was a patient in 1987. The elder Kronfeld had a spinal cord injury and was able to make a great recovery thanks to the expert care he received there. He was so grateful that he joined the hospital and foundation boards, serving for over 20 years.
After Harvey passed away in 2016, Andy took up the mantle to continue the work his father started. He is founder of APB Industrial Properties, a member of the Foundation Finance and Investment Committee, and co-chair of the annual tennis benefit that supports wheelchair sports.
“We are grateful to Andy for making this gift to support our campaign to renovate the outpatient care center, and all he does to support our patients,” said Laura Torchin, chair of the Foundation Board. “The Kronfeld family has been making a difference for decades and Andy has done a great job in carrying the torch since his father’s passing,” she added.
In recognition of the generous gift, the café on the second floor will be named the Kronfeld Café, and a plaque honoring Andy and Harvey will be placed on the wall.
