Jefferson mourns the passing of our dear friend and generous benefactor, Vickie Farber. Â
Vickie and her late husband, Jack, were pillars of the Jefferson community, helping elevate all facets of our mission. Through their philanthropic support to launch the Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience, they propelled Jefferson to the forefront of neuroscience discovery and disease treatment — bringing together our globally recognized researchers and physicians from neurosurgery, neurology, psychiatry, and neuroscience.Â
True visionaries in their philanthropy and leadership, Vickie and Jack also established the Weinberg ALS Center, several endowed professorships, university scholarships, and the David Farber ASPIRE Center in memory of their beloved son. Â
In 2004, Vickie and Jack were recognized with the Award of Merit, Jefferson’s highest civic honor. Â
Vickie was known for her generous spirit and energy. For many years, she was an active member of the Women’s Board of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She was a Board Member of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association and a member of the Education Board of the National Liberty Museum. Â
May the memory of Vickie Farber be for a blessing.Â
