Employee Giving FAQ
What is All In: The Campaign for the Better Together Fund?
All In: The Campaign for the Better Together Fund is a campuswide program enhancing the culture of philanthropy at Jefferson and offering employees an opportunity to make a philanthropic impact on programs across the enterprise.
What is the time frame of the Employee Giving Campaign?
The Employee Giving Campaign will run for one month, from May 1 through May 31, 2018. Any gift made to Jefferson in the fiscal year 2018 will count for this program.
Why should I donate?
As an employee of Jefferson, you have the unique opportunity to give back directly to the place where you work and help enact the changes you want to see on campus. Jefferson is a nonprofit institution that relies increasingly on private support. We ask for contributions from alumni, friends, patients, faculty, staff, corporations, and foundations to keep Jefferson affordable and to expand our research and clinical care.
What is the value of employee giving?
Together, gifts impact our entire community. When we care for the well-being of our colleagues, we are better equipped to take care of our patients and students.
May I designate my gift to any area of campus?
Yes! You should designate your gift to an area in any of the Jefferson campuses that is meaningful to you. If you need a recommendation, we are encouraging employees to designate their gift to the newly created Better Together Fund. When it becomes available in 2019, this fund will offer support to employees seeking assistance from unexpected hardships, as well as provide opportunities to enhance their well-being. It will be made possible by employees, for employees.
What are the benefits of participation?
Your gift has an immediate impact on the stability and growth of Jefferson. As an employee donor, you will receive special recognition by senior leadership and will receive the same courtesies as other Jefferson donors.
How much should I give?
Any amount that feels comfortable to you. Every gift represents a meaningful step towards our goal of increasing faculty and staff participation by 10 percent.
What if my spouse works for a matching gift company?
If your spouse works for a matching gift company, your gift may be doubled or even tripled. Please contact Human Resources for your spouse’s company’s matching gift form. Then just complete the form and enclose it when returning your contribution to Jefferson.
How does payroll deduction work?
Payroll deduction is one of the most convenient ways to make your gift. By completing a payroll deduction form, you can choose the amount to have automatically deducted from each paycheck. Your gift will be split over multiple pay periods, making it very easy to give incrementally over time.
Are payroll deduction contributions deducted on a pretax basis?
No, payroll deduction gifts and pledges are deducted after-tax according to federal law. You can claim the tax deduction when you file your taxes annually.
I already made a gift this year. Do I have to make another gift to participate?
Thank you so much for supporting Jefferson. Your gift qualifies as participation toward our goal.
I have other questions. Who can I contact?
