Honoring Sean F. Hogan, Sr.
In November 2012, 44-year-old Sean F. Hogan, Sr., a beloved husband, father, and Philadelphia firefighter, was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer. Despite aggressive and, at times, hopeful treatment at Jefferson, Sean passed away in September 2013.
With two small children at home, Sean’s wife, Patty Hogan, understood the challenges of caring for an ill partner and young kids, so she established the Sean F. Hogan, Sr., Foundation to help families like hers. Honoring Sean’s upbeat and giving spirit, Patty’s fundraising efforts through the Broad Street Run and other activities throughout the year helped other families be “Sean Strong.” In fact, 250 families affected by cancer have been helped since 2015.
SEANstrong at Jefferson
Jefferson is proud to continue the work of the foundation by establishing the SEANstrong Fund. The fund provides financial assistance for child care expenses and other household needs for families with a parent or guardian who is being treated for cancer at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Health.
