Vickie & Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience
A Bold New Era for Neuroscience
Jefferson is an internationally recognized neuroscience leader with a proud history of “firsts” in the prevention, treatment, study, and education of disorders of the nervous system. In 2002, thanks to a transformational leadership gift from the Farber family, we took our neuroscience program to an entirely new tier with the establishment of the Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience, a robust and rapidly expanding integrated research and clinical enterprise. Innovations pioneered at the Farber Institute have fundamentally transformed the discipline, sparking high-impact discoveries, sought-after training opportunities, and world-class clinical options for more patients.
Our preeminent faculty continue to write the guidelines and set the standards across the gamut of neuroscience specialties. Your generosity is the catalyst that empowers them to do so.

The House Rosenwasser Built
The future of Neuroscience at Jefferson is bright. As an industry leader in clinical practice, research, and education, Jefferson is redefining the future of the field.
Innovative Research
Translational research informs everything we do at Jefferson. With some of the brightest minds in medical science, our researchers are working tirelessly to investigate every neurological disease from every angle—how they start, how external factors influence disease progression, and how we can cure them. Philanthropy plays a key role in launching bold new avenues of study and advancing our faculty’s most promising research from the bench to the bedside.
Programs & Centers
The brain and nervous system form a remarkable network—an elaborate arrangement of folds, grooves, fluids, and nerves that all work together in synchrony. The same can be said of the clinical and research programs within Jefferson’s Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience. The result—more breakthroughs, better outcomes, and the best possible quality of care for our patients and their families. The following centers are an integral part of our reputation for excellence:
- Alzheimer’s & Cognitive Disorders Center
- Brain Tumor Center
- Center for Neurorestoration
- David Farber Advancement of Suicide Prevention, Intervention, Research, and Education Center
- Epilepsy Center
- Headache Center
- Multiple Sclerosis Center
- Neuro Spine Center
- Neurovascular Center
- Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders Center
- Raphael Center for Neurorestoration
- Sleep Disorders Center
- Weinberg ALS Center
- William H. Annesley, Jr., MD ’48 EyeBrain Center
- The David Farber ASPIRE Center (Advancement of Suicide Prevention, Intervention, Research, and Education)
Research into these devastating neurological diseases has been gaining momentum for years, and Vickie and I chose to make this investment now because we want to be a part of the transformation.
